Enjoy a day in the studio pushing the boundaries of your artistic skills. The studio has panoramic views of the Clyde.

Price...£60 per day including refreshments and a light lunch. All materials are included in the course fee.

Getting through the doors into one's imagination requires a good push. This process can be exciting and always refreshing. Come and try these creatively expanding courses and experience for yourself the amount of fun and reward to be had. There is nothing tame or predictable about these courses. Take some risks here and apply what you learn to your own practice. No matter what the nature of the art you are pursuing in your own time, it always pays to take time out to draw from primary sources and to get out of your own comfort zone. Drawing is the bedrock.

The maximum number of people on any one course is six.
One to one tuition available.
Courses are suitable for practitioners interested in 2 dimensional or 3 dimensional work.
I can organise art parties for special occasions.

Kicking Over The Traces

this is a one day course

This is a drawing based course aimed at expanding your ideas of what you can do with a drawing and how to develop your own work. This will be a themed creative day with an expanded approach to drawing based on a surprise theme.

The course will run from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm and will cost £60. The course fee is due one week in advance of the course date. The fee will include refreshments and a light lunch.

There will be some warm-up drawing, offering new techniques; an introduction to colour; some discussion and individual work on the development of your personal work - produced that morning – leading to the concept of your own individuality of approach. Work will be developed differently for each individual.

The aim will be for everyone to explore new methods of surprising him or herself into producing an unusual and unpredictable drawing.

2 Day Courses

Developing Creativity 9.30 am – 4.00 pm on two consecutive days £60 per day. Course fee includes all refreshments and a light lunch and all materials.

Working from a primary source. The 20 drawings project.

Drawing to Pattern 9.30 am – 4.30 pm on two consecutive days £50 per day. Course fee includes all refreshments and a light lunch and all materials.

Course begins with drawing from a primary source. Learn about the principle of pattern formation. Develop a pattern to have professionally printed on fabric. Course fee includes all work up to finalised drawing.

The follow-up to this course is a service provided whereby a professional designer based in London will develop your drawing into a repeating pattern from which it can be printed onto fabric in Glasgow. There is a design fee of £25 for this part of the process and the cost of having the fabric printed in Glasgow is £30 per meter plus the cost of the fabric plus VAT.

2D/3D/2D 9.30 am – 4.00 pm two consecutive days. £60 per day. Course fee includes all refreshments and a light lunch and all materials.

Drawing from a primary source. Turn the work into a 3 dimensional piece then back into a 2D piece again. Really mind expanding.

One to One

£60 per half day (9.30 am – 12.30 pm)
(tutorials with set work)

This involves one to one tutorials with individuals wishing to consolidate and develop their artistic practice. This includes sketchbook initiatives and set work. This is an opportunity to shape the development of your work.
